La Fageda d’en Jordà is one of the 26 nature reserves that are part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park And, as you can see for yourself in the images that we offer you in the gallery, it is a really beautiful place. Of course, everyone agrees that the best season to visit it is in the fall. Favorable conditions despite their situation

La Fageda d’en Jordà is an exceptional beech forest of up to 25 meters that grows at 550 m altitude, specifically in a flat area located on the sides of the lava flow of the volcano Croscat. It would be unfavorable conditions for this type of tree were it not for the humidity of the area and the drainage of the volcanic rock in this area. The most surprising thing is that when you enter the forest it will seem as if you are immersing yourself in an authentic cave, since the light practically does not penetrate the precious framework of the branches. In fact, you will have a hard time seeing the sky between the trunks and the crowded canopies.

A walk in the fall

As we have said, autumn is the best area to visit the area, since the range chromatic that can be seen there is really beautiful. And is that the ground is filled with dry leaves from the trees and everything is tinged with ocher and earth colors. You can explore the itinerary both on foot and by bicycle or horse, although there is still one more option: go in a carriage pulled by a Percheron horse. In addition, if you opt for this alternative, you can also enjoy an explanation about the Natural Park.
