Discover Avignon this summer

Located in the heart of the Provence, in the south of France, Avignon is a tremendously attractive city, perfect to discover in summer. To its rich artistic and architectural heritage, we must add its cultural effervescence. And, as it is a university city, it enjoys that lively atmosphere all year round, making it an equally appetizing option in winter.

If you don't know where to vacation yet, there are plenty of reasons to choose Avignon this summer. And besides, it's not too far, which can be an added advantage.

Cultural Avignon

Avignon emerges majestic on the banks of the Rhone, and it is a city of great architectural beauty. In fact, the center was declared World Heritage by Unesco in 1995. It is a city walled, and its walls, despite dating back to the 14th century, are still in good condition today.

Visiting Avignon is not stopping to be amazed by incredible monuments. Like the great Papal palace, a great medieval Gothic construction, which was the residence of popes since it was completed in the year 1370. Its enormous size attracts attention. It is made up of the Old Palace and the New Palace. You should also visit the Romanesque cathedral of Notre Dame des Doms and, of course, the Avignon Bridge or Pont St-Bénézet, one of the symbols of the city. It was built in the 12th century and at that time it was the only bridge through which the Rhone could cross in its southern section.

But one of the attractions of the city in summer is undoubtedly the Avignon Festival, which this year will celebrate its 67th edition from July 5 to 26. The performing arts Contemporary people have their star date here: theater, dance and music to enjoy the beautiful.
