Madeira's best beaches

The island of Madeira, in Portugal, is one of the most interesting destinations in Europe, especially if you are looking for a quiet place where you can enjoy your holidays in a relaxed way. Although it has many interesting things, its beaches undoubtedly take the palm as they are spectacular. You can find them with different characteristics, so you can spend the day that best suits your tastes and needs.

Obviously I can't make an article with all the Madeira beaches since there are many and it would take weeks to write it and you to read it, so I will focus on the best ones. Although I will leave out many interesting beaches, undoubtedly the ones in this article are very special for different reasons, which makes them one of the most famous on the island.

Praia Formosa

It is 10 minutes from Funchal and they are three small sandy beaches and one of Callao that is bigger. Any of them always has an affluence since they are spectacular, in addition to which you can practice various sports activities. During the summer there are competitions and the nightlife is very lively. It has a Blue Flag and among its services there is a medical center, kindergarten, changing rooms, bars and a car park.

Calhau da Lapa

Its waters are the cleanest on the entire island, and it is also one of the calmest beaches. It's in Bell tower, half hidden at the bottom of a slope, so to get to it you have to travel somewhat complicated paths. It is not a spectacular beach but it is perfect for resting. It has hammocks, umbrellas and a bar, among other services.

Ribeira Brava

It is in the center of Ribeira Brava, very close to bars, restaurants and all kinds of leisure facilities. There are areas to play volleyball and soccer, as well as canoes for a walk on the sea. A beautiful and very interesting beach.

Ponta do Sol

It is in one of the sunniest places on the island, and is a small beach but beautiful. The weather is very good throughout the year, and the water is usually not cold. It is the quietest beach on the entire south coast of the island, and has services such as bars or changing rooms, so you will not miss a thing.
