Kiruna Snow Festival in Sweden

This January, one of the most spectacular winter events in Europe will take place: the Kiruna Snow Festival, which takes place in Sweden. From January 27 to 29 of this year, snow will take on a very important place within the framework of a very interesting and entertaining program of events. Kiruna is a town 140 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, in the Lapland region.

The program also includes ski competitions, ice skating, sleigh and reindeer races and lots of fun activities for the whole family. Many of the activities are held at night in giant igloos, although the most important event, the snow sculpture contest, takes place on the main streets.

A traditional festival

Since it began in 1985, the Snow Festival of Kiruna It has become a tradition in Sweden and in all the countries of northern Europe. An event in which any visitor will enjoy everything with activities such as making a moose safari or go on a snowmobile route. Of course, there is no lack of traditional Swedish gastronomy in any of the town's restaurants and bars. Essential to try the köttbullar, which are meatballs covered in a sauce made with sour cream.

Ice Hotel

During your visit to the festival, you cannot miss the famous Ice Hotel, which is built entirely of ice, both inside and outside. This hotel is only built for several weeks in winter, and artists from all over the world participate in its construction. Rooms, reception, bar, decoration ... absolutely everything is built of ice.
