The Glenfinnan Viaduct

If you are going to travel to Scotland you can't stop seeing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Located at the top of Lake Shiel, in the Scottish West Highlands, it is a mandatory crossing point for all those tourists who decide to tour the country in search of spectacular landscapes. In addition, we must not forget that it is very famous for having been used in three installments of the film saga. 'Harry Potter'.

The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a curved bridge that has a total of 21 arches. It was built by Sir Robert McAlpine between 1897 and 1901. For this, several tons of concrete were used to achieve the current result, with a maximum height of 30 meters.

To see it you have to go in the direction Fort william (It is between Fort William and Mallaig), specifically to the information point, where there is a paid parking lot (by way of donation, as can be read on the parking meter.). From there you can see the Jacobi monument on one side and the Glenfinnan Viaduct on the other side. To get to the latter you can choose two paths. Whichever option you choose, you can enjoy stunning views, ideal for taking a photo with any of the two points of interest in the background. Reaching on foot and standing just below is also possible depending on the state of the ravine.
