Most important monuments of Guadalajara (Mexico)


If you travel to Guadalajara (Mexico) It is important that you know before going to the most emblematic monuments that you can find there so that you do not miss any of them. There are many monuments, and not all of them will appear in this article, but we wanted to offer you a small mention of the most relevant ones.

The aqueduct: approximately 300 meters in length. It dates from the year 1900 and today is one of the most important decorative elements in the city.

The Frieze of the Founders: it is a wall curtain 3 meters high and 21 meters long, which was built in 1542. Its bronze reliefs represent the foundation of Guadalajara.

The Entrance Arch to Zapoan: more than 20 meters high and built from a quarry. It is supported by two rectangular pillars with reliefs that represent the foundation of the city, and consists of two false semicircular arches with a hanging capital in the center. It gives access to the Teopitzintli promenade and in turn communicates with the Plaza de las Américas.


Sculpture of the Motherland: it is a figure of a sensual and splendid woman, who carries the national ensign and stands on a pedestal with the shield of the homeland.

The weapon shield: it is a sculptural bronze ensemble, consisting of two lions on an oak trunk posing on their front legs symbolizing victory.
