Shard London Bridge, the tallest skyscraper in Europe


In London You can always find a lot of interesting things for any visitor, many of them among the best in the world on their own. One of the great novelties that there is in the city is "The Shard", a spectacular skyscraper recently built and which has become the tallest in Europe. It is 310 meters and thus exceeds two London giants such as One Canada Square (235 meters) and the British Telecom Tower (191).

This new building was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano and is in a landscape where you can also find the famous London Bridge or the London Eye. Its official opening is scheduled for early 2013 and it has no less than 87 floors. It will house offices for, according to calculations, some 7000 people, in addition to the fact that it also has apartments to live and that cost about 12 million pounds each (almost 15 million euros).

Officially called Shard London Bridge, there will also be a 5-star hotel called Shangri La, parking spaces and a viewpoint that covers 4 floors and that will offer an impressive view of the city. Its appearance is irregularly triangular from the base to the top and is totally glass coated. On the top floor, in addition to the gazebo, there is also a terrace to sit and have a drink while enjoying the views.

In the place where it was built is where the Southwark Towers buildings, which were demolished in 2006. Although it is not yet fully ready and its opening is a few months away, it is certainly worth stopping by to admire not only its height and beauty but also how well it fits into the skyline of London.
