Tourist regions and activities in Cambodia


Until the 1990s, the general perception of Cambodia it was that of a nation devastated by war. However, in the past 15-20 years, this country has made rapid progress on an economic level. Tourism is the second largest source of income for Cambodia, after the textile industry. Its picturesque beaches, the ancient temples and its impressive nature have made this entire country one of the access points for tourists from southern Asia.

The activities Cambodia's interesting and fun clusters are grouped into different regions that tourists can visit. Different parts of this beautiful country have something unique to offer. Beaches and national parks attract many tourists. Take note of some regions that you should not miss and what you can do in each of them:

- Kratie
Spotted dolphin activity is one of the main tourist attractions for all those who visit Kratie province. The Mekong River is located north of Kratie and is home to the Irrawaddy River freshwater dolphins.

- Sihanoukville
This Cambodian province is 115 miles southwest of Phnom Penh (the capital). It takes about 3 hours from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville. There are many interesting and fun things to do in Sihanoukville. The beaches offer a lot of activities to tourists such as diving, snorkelling, bike routes, etc. Ream National Park is a good place for nature lovers.

- Mondulkiri
The main attractions in this region include the elephant ride and visiting the Monorom and Bou Sraa waterfalls.

- Angkor Temples
The temples present a picturesque setting for those interested in photography.
