When we organize a trip we always think about typical destinations to which everyone goes, leaving out a lot of places that are fantastic but perhaps not as famous as the great European capitals, a route through the United States or a few relaxing days in the Caribbean.
So today I would like to talk to you about Maribor, a beautiful Slovenian city that has some really spectacular landscapes. Fortunately, more and more people travel to the countries of the East, and that is that in that part of Europe there are places worth visiting. Well, Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia and it is on the banks of the Drava river, which also makes it one of the most beautiful European cities.
It is located in the region of Lower Styria, next to the border with austriaSo it is also a good option to take a tour of various countries on our continent. Several mountains and valleys surround it, making nature a very important point and what stands out most in Maribor and its surroundings.
There are many places of interest in Maribor, such as its fantastic 12th century Gothic Cathedral, the Renaissance-style Town Hall or an imposing Castle dating from the 15th century. The historic center brings together the most important places in the city and preserves that aroma of history that we like to see in the most central areas of the cities, with cobbled alleys, squares, terraces and buildings of different styles.
Outside of Maribor you have the Mariborsko Pohorje, one of the most important ski resorts in Slovenia and an ideal destination for lovers of this sport. There have been several world championships in alpine skiing. As for leisure, there is a lot of nightlife and a lot of cultural offer, especially in June, when the Lent Festival, during which you can enjoy various concerts, theaters and various activities.
