Hotels and Facebook games

The international hotel chain Marriott, has launched a new game on Facebook, which allows users to move around their own virtual hotel. The purpose of this initiative is to try to convince users that the Internet is not boring and to attract them as new customers to their Hotels. My Marriott Hotel is available on the Marriott fan page.

The game It is very similar to the popular Farmville and Cityville. Players must progressively go through the different areas of their hotel. They can start in the kitchen where they can buy ingredients, meet the cooks and create their own menu for them. As with other Facebook games, players can earn points if customers are satisfied, but if they don't like the service, players they will lose those points.

Can be played on various Languages: English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Mandarin. According to Marriott, online gaming is the second most popular activity on the net, so hotels need to offer these services to both their clients and prospects. The game may have some success but it is true that it faces very tough competition. Between his competitors, apart from those already mentioned we can find:

- Hotel City: This game has a very nice design and has a total of 1.7 million monthly users. (// apps.facebook.com/hotelcity/)

- Habbo Hotel: Focused on social interaction, the game allows users to meet other people wandering around a hotel full of travelers. It has more than 600,000 users every month. (//apps.facebook.com/habbous/)
