The Little Mermaid, the symbol of Copenhagen

One of the greatest treasures that the Danes have is The little Mermaid, symbol of the country and located near the Amalienborg Palace, where the Royal Family resides. This mermaid, like all of them, lives in the sea, specifically on a rock that has entered the sea but does not have difficult access, although taking the photo itself will be a bit complicated since there are many tourists who are there at all times . Although good, you will be on vacation so be patient and enjoy the views while you wait your turn.

According to legend, when the mermaids sang, the sailors were haunted by that song, especially one that while working on the high seas was totally haunted. The Little Mermaid fell in love with that sailor and she gave up being a mermaid in order to be a woman on earth, also renouncing his immortality in order to get the love of his sailor. It is not really known if it is a myth or if it really was, but the truth is that this is the legend that has been told from generation to generation and that even the writer Hans Cristian Andersen captured it in one of his books.

The Danish Little Mermaid It was built in 1913 by order of a magnate and was inspired by a very famous Danish dancer of that time. It is made of cast bronze, measures 1.25 meters and weighs 175 kilograms.
