The Airport Food and Beverage Awards

A bar in ZurichLocated exactly at the Swiss International Airport, it has been named as the best airport bar in the world. This title was granted in the Airport Food and Beverage Awards, held in Manchester earlier this week. The Center Bar extends along one side of the airport departure terminal.

This bar managed to beat its most direct competitors: the Harry’s Bar, an open-air lounge located on the roof of Changi Airport in Singapore, and the Bumi Saji of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Airport Brussels and Newark Liberty International Airport shared the award in the Best Wine Bar category.

In the soft drink category, the winner was Perfect Day. In this pleasant bar, you can have a coffee and a sandwich outside the airport of Frankfurt. What is special is that the coffee beans are organically harvested in the jungle of the mountains of southern India. Le Grand Comptoir at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, won the award for the best bar that is also a restaurant. Frankfurt Airport won the award for the best full-service restaurant thanks to its Kaefers Bistro.

The winners of this contest were selected by three aviation experts including Martin Moodie, editor of the travel publication The Moodie Report. Moodie, whose team attends almost all major terminals, explained that he believed that food and beverages sold at airports have grown enormously in importance in the last decade due to the time spent by Travellers at the terminals.
