The luxurious Buckingham Palace in London

The Buckingham Palace, is the official residence of the Queen of England and it is also one of the main London landmarks. Until a few years ago you could only enter with a visit from the Queen or the previous King, but today anyone can visit it, yes, with the rules and requirements that the Royal House establishes. Shall I tell you a little bit about its history? It was built in 1703 as a house, and the royal family bought it in 1962, when King George III wanted to take it over to use it as his private retreat since it is in a great area bordering Hyde Park.

Her son, King George IV, turned that house into the Palace that it is today, with Queen Victoria being the first person in the royal family to sleep in the residence, being the Royal Palace in 1837. Both she and her husband Prince Albert added one more wing to the palace to make it even bigger. With the twentieth century and the new times came the new rules, such as everything to allow visits to Buckingham Palace, although not to all parties of course.

If you go to visit london and you want to go to the Palace, keep in mind that you can only book your ticket between August and September of each year, whenever you travel, and you can buy them in advance. Once inside, you will see the State Room, the Grand Staircase, the Image Gallery (which has many world famous works of art) or the throne room. But the most famous is undoubtedly the Buckingham Palace changing of the guard, which is once a day and always at 11:30 in the morning, although it can be canceled without prior notice due to bad weather or any other factor that the Royal House considers.
