Park Güell, the heart of Barcelona


The Guell park It is a spectacular garden that is located in the upper part of Barcelona, very close to the Tibidabo and that it has great architectural elements inside. It is the perfect place to disconnect for a few hours from the noise of the city. Designed by Antoni Gaudí At the request of the businessman Eusebi Güell, it was designed as an urbanization although in 1922 it was inaugurated as a public park. Since 1984 it is part of the wide World Heritage. It has about 18 hectares and a spectacular and peculiar design that shows what Gaudí's work was like. Wavy shapes, walks with columns that are shaped like a tree, geometric shapes and stalactites. In the Park Güell any figure is possible.

The main entrance is in the lowest part of the mountain, in Olot street, and it is the closest part to the urban area. It has six more entries. A wrought iron gate will greet you, and as you walk you will discover various animal sculptures and lots of columns and pavilions, almost all of marble. In the central part of the park there is a spectacular plaza of 3,000 square meters and its edge is similar to a snake, it is covered with ceramic pieces. Initially, the plaza was designed to house a theater that would serve as a place for meetings and celebrations.

Viaducts, trees, sculptures ... Park Güell is a spectacular place that you will fall in love with as soon as you step on it. There you can also see the Gaudí House-Museum, the artist's place of residence until a few months before his death in 1925. It was built as a "pilot house" for the planned urbanization, and Gaudí bought it when he saw that the initial project would not be carried out. In the house you can see a wide collection of his works and those of his collaborators, all of them spread over three floors.
