The Cíes Islands

The Cíes Islands are located in full Rías Baixas, in the Galician province of Pontevedra. It was declared a Natural Park thirty years ago and for a few years it has also been part of the Cortegada, Ons and Sálvora del P archipelagos.National arch of the Atlantic islands that extends over the Rías Baixas.

Belonging to the municipality of Vigo, it is a beautiful place that can be visited all year round. This archipelago is mainly made up of three islands: the Monteagudo Island, the Montefaro Island and finally the San Martiño Island. Around these there are also small islets, having in total the archipelago an extension of 2658 marine hectares and 433 terrestrial.

The set of these islands form a natural barrierbetween the sea and the estuary, which has made the port of Vigo one of the safest ports in the world. The most common way to access them is to take a catamaran of regular line that unites the cities of Vigo, Cangas and Baiona with the entire archipelago.

You can stay overnight in it, since there is a camping with a capacity of 800 places in which the stay is allowed for no more than fifteen days. Once there you can enjoy either a day of hiking or a day at the beach. From the island's port you can see one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the Rhodes Beach, with crystal clear and calm waters, and with a blue flag. On the other hand, one of the best-known hiking routes is the ascent to the Monte Faro, from where you can enjoy beautiful views. The islands are also a great observatory for birds and marine species.
