Known for its manufacture and distribution of wine from Porto, Porto (Porto) is the second largest metropolitan area in Portugal. Porto was founded by the Romans. Today, the region is not only home to more than two million citizens, it also has the great honor of being considered World Heritage. If you decide to make a quick visit to this beautiful city you should not miss:
–Church of San Francisco. The name of one of the patron saints of the area. The church of San Francisco was built in the year 1200. Visitors can admire the Romanesque and Gothic styles of the church, as well as its wooden interior.
–Stock Exchange Palace. Build in 1841, the palace and the cathedral are the exceptional showcase of the city's architecture. There you will find the statue of the Infante Henrique. This commemorative statue shows us the image of Henrique the Navigator who was the prince from Portugal between 1300 and 1400.
–Dom Luis Bridge. In the city of Porto there is the river Duero. The Dom Luis Bridge spans the entire width of the river and allows easy access to the city.
–Porto Cathedral. It is one of the oldest churches in the area. After centuries of wear and tear, the cathedral was renovated in the year 1700.
–Matosinhos. It is one of the most popular villages. This coastal community is famous for its small beaches. Matosinhos, also has a church 14th century, and a monastery of Gothic architecture
–Vila Nova de Gaia. Here you can see, first hand, the production of wine from Porto.
