Lemesos: a journey through history


Located in CyprusLemesos stretches along the south coast. It is the successor to two city-states and the scene of a major royal wedding in the Middle Ages.

You can do a whole historical journey if what you are looking for is important archaeological remains, medieval castles ... but you can also enjoy its beautiful carnivals and of course its well-known Wine Festival. Lemesos is the most important center of the island's wine industry.

Throughout its huge beach You will enjoy countless hotels, restaurants and the best nightlife in the area, while nearby are the pine forests that cover the southern slope of the Troodos Mountains with its picturesque wine-producing towns, the romantic mountain resorts and the curious area of Pitsylia.

Cyprus Medieval Museum-Lemesos Medieval Fort

Built in the XIV century. It is located in an old Byzantine castle. It was here that according to tradition, Ricardo Corazón de León married Berengaria de Navarra and she was crowned Queen of England in 1191.


Lemesos District Archaeological Museum

You will be able to enjoy an interesting collection of antiquities from the Neolithic to the Roman period.

Municipal museum of folk art


Nice collections of folk art from the 19th and early 20th century, you will see in this restored old house.

Municipal art gallery

It houses a representative collection of paintings by renowned contemporary Cypriot artists.
