Blue flag beaches


The blue flags are an ecolabel promoted by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education that have been granted to the beaches of more than 36 countries of Europe, Canada, New Zealand, Morocco, the South African Republic and the Caribbean, with which you want to recognize that on those beaches some sanitary-environmental requirements. They are granted null and several criteria are taken into account, such as environmental management, water quality, safety and services, and environmental information and education.

At present, the country with the highest number of blue flags on its beaches is Spain, being Catalonia the autonomous community that leads, with a total of 112 flags, followed by Galícia with 105, Valencia with 100 and Baleares with 84.
This year, Spain has received a total of 527, 455 flags for beaches and 72 for marinas. Even so, this year it will have 49 fewer flags compared to last year.

Catalonia: La Escala, San Antoni de Calonge, Sitges, Ametlla de Mar.
Valencian Community: Benicassim, Cullera, Orihuela, Denia.
Murcia: Cartagena, Eagles.
Andalusia: Roquetas, Puerto de Santa María.
Balearics: Calvía, Manacor, Ciudadela, San Josep.
Canary Islands: Pajara, Adeje, Tías.
Galicia: Vigo, Cangas de Morrazo, Sangenjo, Ribeira, Barreiros.
Asturias: Castropol, Llanes.
Cantabria: Santander, Arnuero.
