The most beautiful towns in La Cerdaña

Puigcerda1
Sheltered from the Eastern Pyrenees we find Cerdanya (La Cerdanya), a territory of historic Catalonia that in the mid-17th century was divided into two: the region of Alta Cerdaña, which is part of France; and Baja Sardinia, which belongs to Catalonia. In addition, it is important to note that the Spanish part was also divided between the provinces of Lleida and Girona.

This Catalan corner is full of trees, meadows and charming villages. It is surprising as much for its beauty as for its history and tradition. In addition, here you can enjoy exquisite gastronomy. Today we move to La Cerdaña to discover some of its towns more beautiful. Of course, we apologize in advance for all those who have remained in the pipeline. Would you like to join us?

Puigcerdà

Puigcerda
First of all, we want to talk about Puigcerdà, the capital of Baja Cerdaña, which is located in the province of Girona, about 1,200 meters above sea level. Among the many places of interest of the town are the lake artificial built in the 13th century; the Bell Tower and the church of Sant Tomàs de Ventajola.

Bellver de Cerdanya

Bellver
In the part of Lleida we find Bellver de Cerdanya, a municipality made up of 15 picturesque little towns that is surprising for its heritage cultural, centered on the Romanesque, and for its natural landscapes. It is important to note that fairs and other activities are always held here.

Another town in La Cerdaña that is worth knowing is Alp, which presents the typical Pyrenean village landscape. One of its main points of interest is the church of Sant Pere. In addition, it is important to note that very close to Alp are the stations of ski of La Molina and Masella. Of course, out of season it is a great place for hiking.

Lles de Cerdanya

Lles-de-Cerdanya
We should also talk about Lles de Cerdanya, one of the largest municipalities in the region. As most of its territory is forested, it is a great place to practice trekking. We want to highlight the Senillers spa, the Travesseres castle and the Romanesque church of Sant Frutiós de Músser.

Llívia

Llivia
As it could not be otherwise, we are also going to talk about Llívia, a town that, curiously, belongs to the region of La Cerdaña despite being on French territory. Constituted at the foot of an imposing castle that today is in ruins, it surprises for its natural environment. In addition, here you will find interesting corners, such as the Church of Our Lady of the Angels or the Pharmacy Museum.

Ger

Ger
In the province of Girona we find Ger, which offers magnificent views. If you have the opportunity to travel to this place, don't forget to visit the Sant Climent de Gréixer church, the Prat del Condal natural area, the Santa Coloma de Ger church and the Santa Eugènia de Saga church.

Prullans

We return to the province of Lleida to tell you about Prullans, a municipality that has kept its rural essence intact. his relief offers numerous alternatives for lovers of hiking and mountain biking. Being located on a small peak, it also offers wonderful views of the valley.

Mont-Louis

Finally, we want to talk about a town in La Cerdaña located on the French side. It is Mont-Louis, a town that is inscribed in the Vauban Fortifications complex, declared a World Heritage Site by the Unesco. We are referring to the nine city-citadels that were created by Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban in the 17th century. From a military point of view, Mont-Louis is the best.
