El Valle del Jerte, a haven of tranquility

Valley

Located between the Sierra de Tromantos and the Montes de Traslasierra and Sierra de Béjar, the Valle del Jerte is the ideal place to enjoy nature and tranquility. Its name comes from the river that runs through it (the Jerte) and offers extensive forests, crystalline gorges and architecture traditional of great value. On the other hand, it is important to keep in mind that thanks to the mountains that protect the valley, there is a microclimate in which winters are not very cold and summers offer mild temperatures.

Of course, the true protagonists of this place are the cherry trees, which reach their maximum splendor during the spring thanks to the flowering period. In fact, during this time of year the valley is visited by thousands of people, something that is not surprising considering that the valley becomes a space for mantle white thanks to the more than 2 million cherry trees that are distributed in a wonderful way on the slopes and banks of the mountains. The beauty of the valley is so great in the period from the end of March to the beginning of April, when the cherry blossoms take place, always depending on the climatology During winter, the Spring and Cherry Blossom Festivals are celebrated during these dates in the towns that form part of the valley, where you can enjoy numerous gastronomic, cultural and hiking activities.

But don't think that you can only enjoy this haven of tranquility in spring. What's more, during the most joyous and colorful time of the year you may come across numerous tourists. Thus, a visit to this beautiful place is also highly recommended at other times of the year.
