Mondragó Natural Park in Mallorca


In the Balearic Islands You can find a lot of places to visit, it is clear that the most famous are its beaches, but you also have other natural environments that are worth knowing on your trip. The one I bring you today is one who is on the island of Mallorca, the Mondragó Natural Park, which is a virgin and natural area well known on the island to go for a walk or do some sport.

It has a pine forest, several lagoons, dunes and small coves like the one in Mondragó, Calo des Burgit and S’Armarador. It is located on the southeast coast of Mallorca, very close to the Santanyí town and it has an area of ​​785 hectares, of which 690 belong to private groups and 95 to public administrations. The main objective of the Mondragó Natural Park is to conserve all the natural heritage of the area.

Its vegetation is made up of several species that are of great ecological interest such as open ravines, streams, Beaches and various botanical species that grow in the different dunes such as sea thistle, violet, sea ​​lily or the houseleek. In the Mondragó Natural Park there is also a lot of animal life, so you can find different mammals, amphibians, reptiles and numerous species of birds.

Among the species that you will see the most are the green toad, the common frog, the lizard, the turtle, the snake, the hedgehog, the wild rabbit, the hare, the dormouse or the weasel. Birds have a fundamental role since they are fully protected and all species can nest there without problems. Without a doubt it is a fantastic place where you can spend a most pleasant day, surely if your vacation is only for sunbathing you will appreciate an escape route of a few hours to be in a totally natural environment.
