The best islands in the world in 2016

As you may have imagined, we are referring to the winners of the Islands section of TripAdivsor's 2016 Travaller’s Choice Awards, which takes into account the opinions and comments of its own users when making its useful rankings. Maui, Hawaii

The top spot on this year's list goes to Maui, an island in Hawaii where you can watch the sunrise from a 3,000-meter-high volcano, walk between craters, swim under waterfalls, and enjoy sandy beaches of different colors. In addition, it is an ideal place to practice surfing, windsurfing, diving and doing snorkel.

Santorini, Cyclades Islands

In second place we find Santorini, belonging to the Cyclades Islands, Greece. Here you can enjoy beaches volcanic with black sand, exquisite eclectic cuisine, charming art galleries, a lively nightlife and wines that are worth tasting, among many other attractions.

Jamaica

Closing the top three we find the island of Jamaica, an American country that surprises with the mix of cultures from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. They emphasize its artisan tradition, its performing arts and its gastronomic proposals, in addition to its spectacular coves and beaches, its steep mountains and its leisure proposals.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands

In fourth position is Providenciales, which belongs to the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British overseas territory. It is an ideal place to couples.

Bali, Indonesia

The fifth place in the best lists in the world this year is for Bali, an ideal destination for all those who are looking for adventures, but also for those who want to relax. Its white sandy beaches are perfect for diving while in its dense jungle you will find hidden stone temples and many monkeys.

Mallorca, Balearic Islands

The only Spanish island on the list is Mallorca, which as they tell from TripAdivsor, inspired artists like Chopin and Miró. On the other hand, they emphasize that it is an ideal destination for the youngest.

Mauritius, Africa

In seventh place we find Mauritius, an exclusive destination located in Africa where you can make a multitude of activities, such as visiting Port Louis, its modern capital, or enjoying its spectacular tourist complexes.

Phuket, Thailand

From the African continent we moved to Asia to discover Phuket, an island in Thailand that this year ranks eighth. You will be amazed by its blue lagoons, its sunsets roses and their monks in orange robes, among many other things.

Bora Bora, Society Islands

In the Society Islands we find the island that occupies the ninth place on the list. It is Bora Bora, a place that amazes everyone who visits it for its color lagoons turquoise, its soft white sands and its deep sunsets.

Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

Finally, we have to talk about the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, declared a World Heritage Site by the Unesco. Unfortunately, the passage of visitors is restricted, so only the most fortunate will be able to enjoy its delicate ecosystem.
