The caves of Maharashtra They are located in the incredible Sahayadri mountain range (India). For many years these caves have been the home of many monks of different religions. Whatever you visit: the paintings from the Ajanta cave or sculptures from the Ellora cave, you will come spellbound from that divine place. These caves offer a truly unforgettable visit.

Ajanta Caves
In 1819, a group of British Army officers, after a hard day's hunting, approached from the far side of a river loop Waghora and they observed on the top of a rocky mountain a great horseshoe-shaped rock and a series of sculpted silhouettes on the facade of a cave.


Ellora Caves
They are located in a part of the hill of Charanadari Deccan. There you will find a series of ancient temples and monasteries carved out of the mountains.

Elephanta Caves
Elephanta was known in ancient times as "Gharapuri" or the cave site. This name (Elefanta) was given to it by the large statue that stands on the seashore. There are seven caves of which the most important is the cave Mahesha-Murti. It is an impressive cave that you should not miss.


Aurangabad Caves
These caves are named as more artificial. They are cut into softer rock and are divided into 2 groups: group western of caves (caves 1-5) and group Oriental of caves (caves 6-10). You cannot miss visiting either group.
