What to see in Leuven


The central europe it offers us many interesting places to visit. There are plenty of beautiful and lively cities, not too big or too busy, that will give us a few days of pleasure and fun. University City


The University of Leuven is one of the biggest attractions of the city, as it gives you a fun academic environment. Founded in 1425, it was taught by none other than Erasmus of Rotterdam. You can not stop visiting it.


Other interesting places are the Main Square or Grote Marka. It is in the center of Leuven and houses historical buildings dating from the 15th century. In it you can also find the St. Peter's Church, in which numerous classical music concerts are held, and the town hall.

The Great Beguinage


The city has other gems that are also worth a visit such as San Miguel's Church, the Tissue Show, the van dale school and the Great Beguinage, one of the most outstanding in all Flanders.

It is a set of some 85 brick houses (the majority built between the years 1630 and 1670), spread over more than ten streets and surrounded by a wall. Formerly, women could enter there as blessed and dedicate themselves to prayer. They also worked in cultivation or caring for the sick. Declared World Heritage in 2000, today it serves as a residence for students and professors of the University.
