Travel to Nafplio in Greece

One of the most visited European countries during holidays is Greece, which receives thousands of cruises throughout the year and is one of the most spectacular destinations in the world thanks to its islands and landscapes. Historical cities, archaeological remains of great value, paradisiacal islands ... without a doubt a country that has a lot to offer and that you have to visit at least once in your life.

Today I would like to recommend a visit to Nafplio, a Greek city that is in the Argolic Gulf and is located 140 to the southwest of the capital, Athens. It was the first capital of the country since its port was the most important and many historical events were experienced there. The city has a lot of charm and in it you can see many buildings that last from the time of the Venetian occupation, which was between the 17th and 19th centuries.

One of the most interesting places is the Palamidí Castle, a spectacular fortress that the Venetians built to defend the city and the port from those who were going to invade them. To reach its top you will have to climb 900 steps, but it is worth it since from there you can enjoy the best views of the city, the bay and the gulf. The old town The city is also very interesting, highlighting Syntagma Square and all the alleys that surround it.

There are also several excursions from Nafplio that are highly recommended, such as visiting the Bourtzi fortress, also built by the Venetians and which is in the middle of the sea. Their objective was to protect access to the city by pirates or any other enemy. To explore the city, in addition to walking you can use the Trenaki, a tourist train that takes you everywhere so you don't miss a thing.
