New places declared a World Heritage Site

The World Heritage Committee for the Unesco has entered 13 new places in the famous list of the World Heritage, which already has 890 featured assets included.

Tower of Hercules (Spain)


Lighthouse of Roman origin located in La Coruña, on the shore of the Atlantic coast, considered the oldest lighthouse in the world in operation.


Pontcysyllte Canal Bridge (United Kingdom)


The Pontcysyllte aqueduct bridge is a great engineering work built in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. The channel is about 18 km long.

Cidade Velha (Cape Verde)



Cidade Velha is a small town in the municipality of Riveira Grande de Santiago (Cape Verde), considered the first European settlement in Africa, a place with a long history.

Wadden Sea (Germany / Netherlands)


Considered a temperate coastal ecosystem in a humid zone, it has formed an enormous set of natural habitats with tidal channels, sandbanks, seaweed meadows, mudflats, mudflats and marshes.

Specifically, the Shushtar hydraulic system, a set of bridges, dams, channels, irrigation and water mills, which has been operating for several centuries supplying entire populations.

Sacred City of Caral-Supe (Peru)


Considered as the first settlement in the Andean zone, archaeological remains are still preserved in the Supe Valley, Barranca province in Peru.

Sulamain-Too Holy Mountain (Kyrgyzstan)


The historic mountain was for millions of years a place of reference for travelers and a sacred site surrounded by sanctuaries, mosques and caves in the Fergana river valley.

Royal Tombs of Joseon (South Korea)


Specifically forty tombs built for more than 500 years belonging to the Joseon Dynasty, located in landscapes of enormous charm.

La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle (Switzerland)


Two Swiss cities declared a World Heritage Site, due to their special charm reminiscent of the urbanism of the watch industry. Cities planned according to the industrial needs of the time.

Loropeni Ruins (Burkina Faso)


The spectacular perfectly preserved stone fortifications and walls are Burkina Faso's first World Heritage site.
