The Coves de Sant Josep they are in the Vall d’Uixó, in the province of Castellón, and belong to the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park. They have a unique beauty that makes them one of the most important tourist destinations in the entire area, a place to go to admire all its charm and be in a very unique natural environment that you will certainly not forget.
Through them passes the Sant Josep river, which covers almost 3 kilometers in length and that you can travel in a canoe, thus enjoying the caves and their surroundings in a much more special way. Inside you will see a combination of various natural formations such as stalactites or stalagmites, in addition to a perfect artificial lighting so that during your walk you do not lose detail of anything that is there.
In the caves you will also see spectacular Paintings, which are a World Heritage Site. Upon entering the caves there is a corridor that is protected by huge blocks of stone and that will guide you to the jetty as you sail through the waters, already underground. In the so-called "Room of the Bats" there is a clay beach that is beautiful, and after a small passage you will reach another room where the Diana Lake, of great depth and that you can see without problem thanks to the fact that its waters are totally crystalline.
Next you will see a formation known as «La Medusa», and then you will continue until you reach the Blue Pond, one of the most beautiful parts and that takes you to the pier, from where you can take a walk on the Dry Gallery. At the end of that gallery you will embark again to continue on your way and reach the exterior, although before you will pass through the Devil's Lake, in which you will go around to return to the beginning and finish the route. Definitely worth it, so if you are going to be in the area, you must visit this place.
