What to see in Santander

Spain is a country with beautiful cities, and the north of our country has a spectacular beauty that makes all those who visit it fall in love. With a mix of sea and mountains, there are cities that are an incredible mix that only nature can achieve. One of these cities is Santander, a very quiet, elegant and beautiful place where the whole city is built around its beaches and bays, which leave a unique landscape.

With many monuments of great interest and beauty, social life is centralized in the area of the port and the beaches. In the Salmerón Pier There is The Stone Crane, one of the symbols of the city and that was built in 1900. There you can also find the Palace of the Embarcadero, which is where the boats leave for other cities and where you can also take one that takes you for a walk around the bay. As for the beaches, the most famous in the city is undoubtedly the Sardinero beach, beautiful and where there are plenty of restaurants and terraces for you to enjoy the scenery any day of the year.

As for historical places, I would keep the Magdalena Palace, which is where the University is. A spectacular area that has 25 hectares of forest and where you can see many places of interest such as the Cerda Lighthouse, the Children's Park, the Monument to Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente or the beach of the bikinis. In Santander there are also other beautiful places such as the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, the Sardinero Casino or the Santa Cruz Convent. Being such a cultural city, it has, of course, several museums, of which I would highlight the Menéndez Pelayo House-Museum, the Cantabrian Maritime Museum, the Planetarium or the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts.
