With all this Hurricane Sandy A lot of images are coming out of NY and of many more cities that are being affected by it. Yesterday, watching an American news program, I was struck by the High Line area, a beautiful area that has nothing to do with its appearance in the middle of a hurricane. This area is characterized by having a beautiful walk that draws a lot of attention.
The high line ride It is one of the most fashionable places in the city, and is visited daily by both tourists and people living in the Big Apple. This little walk arose after the urban renewal that is taking place in the city and which aims to make every corner of it beautiful, something that at least they have achieved in the High Line.
This area is in the so-called West Side Line and it is divided into 3 phases, and the last one will open in 2014. The first two phases have a combined length of 1.6 kilometers and range from 30 West to 12th Avenue. It was a practically dead area for many years, but a group of people in the late 90's bet on its remodeling and to keep the line of railway, renewing it and giving it a much better appearance not only to the station but to everything around it.
After these renovations, the High Line remained as a open space Fantastic, with a beautiful park designed by James Corner and that perfectly complemented the architecture of the place with the park. Among the most interesting things you find in the High Line are several natural plantations within the park, which makes it a perfect area to spend a family day or go sports. There are also cultural attractions, and the architecture is truly spectacular. There, concerts and various events are usually organized throughout the year.
